Abstract | This is a dataset of the monthly fluxes of suspended 134Cs and 137Cs in rivers within 80 km of TEPCO's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, calculated by Fukushima Prefectural Centre for Environmental Creation. Turbidity meters, water level meters, and suspended solids (SS) samplers were set at 27 river monitoring sites. Turbidity and water level data were automatically obtained every 10 minutes, and SS samples were collected every few months. After the SS samples were dried at 105-110 ℃ for 24 hours, the concentrations of 134Cs and 137Cs were measured by using a germanium semiconductor detector. The SS concentration (SSC) and the discharge (Q) were calculated from the turbidity and water level data, respectively, and the two were multiplied to calculate the SS flux (Ls). In the case that the measured turbidity value was abnormal, the data was complemented using the rating curve between SSC and Q. The fluxes of the suspended 134Cs and 137Cs was calculated by multiplying Ls by the 134Cs and 137Cs concentrations. The fluxes were integrated every month to obtain the monthly fluxes. The error includes the counting error of gamma ray spectrometry and the 95% prediction interval of the rating curve.
