[Divisions and Sections]

■Radiation Safety Management Division
The Radiation Safety Management Division manages the university’s radioisotopes, nuclear fuel materials, X-ray generators, and facilities that use these materials, as well as provides education and training for users and radiation exposure control. It also provides information on decontamination and reducing the effects of radiation on the human body, based on the knowledge and experience accumulated in the management and education.

■Research Division

・Radioisotope Research Section
Using our experience in research using various radioisotopes and readily available facilities, we develop new methods for measuring radioisotopes and radiation with high sensitivity and simplicity, as well as methods for measuring under various outdoor conditions. We will also conduct basic research to apply these methods to the evaluation of physical properties, materials and functions, tracers to study environmental behavior, and biological behavior and metabolism.

・Radionuclides Environmental Transfer Section
This Section conducts research on the transfer of radioactive materials released into the environment.
For this purpose, we will conduct water and sediment transport monitoring and modeling using world-class methods and technologies in collaboration with IAEA, IRSN (France), University of Plymouth (UK), etc. In particular, we will develop mechanisms and comprehensive models of radionuclide transport in forests and soils. In particular, we will develop mechanisms and comprehensive models for the transport of radioactive materials deposited on forests and soils.

・Environmental Dynamics and Prediction Section
Aiming to elucidate the process of radioactive material transport in the atmosphere, rivers, and oceans at various spatial scales, such as local, regional, and global scales, we improve and develop numerical simulation models and reproduction experiment methods. In addition, we will conduct reproducible experiments with high accuracy by applying the improved models and experimental methods.

・Isotope Cosmochemistry and Geochemistry Section
We elucidate phenomena that occur now on the Earth and occurred throughout the Earth’s history, based on geochemical data, such as the abundances of long half-life radioactive substances, stable isotope compositions, and trace element concentrations.
