AbstractThis 3D Cs-137 concentration dataset was created using high-resolution ocean simulations based on the Regional Ocean Modeling System (ROMS). The model incorporates only direct leakage from the vicinity of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant and dissolved flux input from rivers. The simulation employs a horizontal resolution of 1/120° (~1 km) and 30 vertical σ-coordinate layers, with boundary conditions provided by JCOPE2 oceanic reanalysis data. To capture mesoscale dynamics such as eddies and the Kuroshio Current, the model results were nudged to JCOPE2 data outside the coastal zones. Atmospheric forcing, including wind stress, heat, and freshwater fluxes, was derived from NuWFAS reanalysis data.
Fluxes of particle- and dissolved-form Cs-137 from rivers were simulated by Sakuma et al. (2019).
