Field information
The study site is located at the Nobeyama highlands, southern foothill of the Yatsugatake Mountains, Nagano Prefecture, Japan. The mean annual precipitation is 1440 mm, and the mean annual temperature is 6.9 °C (1981?2010). A variety of highland vegetables such as cabbage, lettuce, haricot, buckwheat are cultivated in the farm. The forest is mostly larch artificial forest.

The dormitory can accommodate 50 guests.
